Friday The 13th, My Lucky Day!

I should have just taken a drive over to Arkansas and purchased a lottery ticket because I had some kind of good luck this weekend!

It all started on Friday the 13th. There was an estate sale here in my city so I got to go before heading off to work. The sale was super over-crowded and the prices were, well a little pricey. There was lots of pretty depression glass and fine China but nothing rusty, crusty, or dusty. I squeezed my way through the crowd and into the garage area of the house. I was picking up things here and there but not finding anything that I just HAD TO HAVE. Then, I saw this poster rolled up in a clear plastic tube. On the outside of the tube was a piece of masking tape with "New York Poster, $1.00" written on it.

Well, I am not really into posters so I have no idea what made me pick it up, let alone take it out of the tube and unroll it. I started unrolling it and it had "New York" written on the top and The Statue of Liberty on it. I almost rolled it back up and put it away but something made me roll it all the way out. On the bottom of the poster, it said "Delta Air Lines." I knew right away that I had something good so I quickly rolled it back up, stuck it back in the tube, and tucked it under my arm.

As soon as I got home from work that night, I did a little research. It turns out my little poster is from the 1970s and worth about $100! How lucky is that?!
The next morning, Aubrey and I had an appointment to go "picking." This is the same appointment that had been rescheduled a couple of times already so I wasn't so sure we were going to get anything or not. On the way there, guess what we saw? I sign for ANOTHER estate sale -- but I will get to that a little later...

Okay, so we went to our "undisclosed location" and met the guy. He let us in the gate and let us just have a "free for all." Here are a few pictures:
The photo right above is of a few things we got: a primitive workbench, an old wooden mercantile cart (my favorite find of the weekend!), some architectural elements, and a couple of tin train cars -- (I will share a photo of them later this week)

I also got all of the smaller letters (which are not so small at almost 3 feet tall!) an old hotel cart, and a few other odds and ends. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want the giant letters (they are as tall as I am!) but we just can't figure out how to get them, where to keep them, or what we would do with them if we had them -- BUT, I am about determined they will be mine!

I also want some of the wrought iron fencing and porch railings -- but the sections were just too long for us to deal with at that time...also, tons of old barn ladders that I will want to go back and get. But I will have to be patient. Our house is full, our storage unit is full, and our booth is full right now.

While we were there, I got a call from the antique mall. I sold the gray chest of drawers!!
Okay, so we were done with that by 11:30 and it was time to grab some lunch and head to the other sale! I scored once again (sorry - I took these things straight to my booth and forgot to get photos) I got a Tom's Peanut jar and an old tin toy typewriter along with a few other things.

While we were at that sale, we heard about yet ANOTHER sale! So, it was back in the truck and off to the 3rd stop of the day. I didn't find much at the 3rd sale but did find a few blue Mason jars with zinc lids and an old pottery crock with a #2 on it.

I was so exhausted by the time we drove all over, loaded all the stuff, got it cleaned and out to the booth that I was showered and in bed by 7 o'clock last night!

Now, that the fun part is over, it's time to get everything that we didn't put in the booth photographed and listed in the Etsy shop.
