One Resolution

As much as I need to set, stick to, and complete many resolutions, I have decided to work on one big one this year. Yes, I still need to lose the rest of the pounds I started losing last year, yes, I need to exercise more, yes, I need to go to bed earlier.
More than anything though, I need to stop bitching. Yep. I find myself griping all the time about one thing or another. Most of the time, it is something that doesn't even deserve a second thought. I don't know why I have turned into such a crab lately. My goal is to find the root of my problem and try to fix it. I guess the first thing is realizing you have the problem -- so at least I have admitted that much.

What are your resolutions?

So, how did you bring in the New Year?

We took our dogs for a walk in the Cypress Preserve and a swim in the lake. We got out Aubrey's metal detector in the hopes of finding a chunk of gold but we only found a few bottle caps. Then, we ate Mexican food and went home for the evening.

We watched this:Wow!! What an inspirational movie to start the New Year with!!

This morning we went back to Aubrey's parent's house. His sister didn't get to come for Christmas but she was there today. This is the first time we have seen her in a year and a half!

We got home early. I napped and Aubrey played Zelda.

I woke up with a sweet tooth and made homemade pralines. Mmmmm! If any of you want the recipe, let me know and I will post it.

Are pecans going crazy where you live? I see people all over every single day picking up pecans. There are booths set up all over town with "We Buy Pecans" on them. Aubrey's boss took his kids out to pick pecans and he compared it to picking up nickels off the ground --that's how high pecan prices are this year! Luckily, I was given a huge bag so that is why I have been making so much pecan based candy these last few weeks. I would feel too guilty letting them spoil.

My evening will involve reading Little Women and watching The Kardashians. Hopefully the reading will restore the brain cells I will kill by watching Kim's marriage crumble. I just can't help myself. I love my guilty pleasures.

Resolutions don't work for me so this year I thought I'd set a few goals and see if I can reach them. My husband took the oldest grandson to some indoor dirt track races in Tulsa yesterday. I stayed home and basically read blogs, pinned a few things on Pinterest and watched movies all day.

I would very much like it if you'd post your recipe for pralines. I had a really good one once upon a time and somehow lost it. Pecans are going for about $8.50 to $9 a pound here. Crazy, isn't it?!

ps All I can think of now is how good those candies must be.

I like your balance between good and evil (reading and reality tv). I tend to skip the reading and focus on the tv...oh,how many brain cells I have lost!
I find that i tend to be much more crabby when i stop exercising...i think your 1st resolution will take care of the other!
Happy New Year!
(I have a little stub of a ponytail, too. but boy those little whispy front hairs are annoying!!)

I loved that movie too. Your pralines look delicious.
I don't make New Year resolutions because I just break them. Enjoyed my visit.

Hey, if you figure out how to quit beeeatching let me know! My New Year's Eve was going to bed at 10:30 p.m. and waking up in 2012. Somebody said Kathy Griffin took her top off on CNN and I missed it. Shucks. I would love the praline recipe. They look so good.

Sounds like a great New Year's Eve to me!! :)
Avi and I were parked on our couch watching the Twilight Zone marathon! We did, of course, pop open a bottle of bubbly for the occasion!

I've been reading about bloggers making monthly goals this year rather than a few year long resolutions. I kind of like that idea. It seems a little less daunting to me. haha!

I'm just so happy 2012 is here. Not sure why, but I feel like it's going to be a great year!!
